Subscribe NowA longtime auto industry executive is the new president and chief executive officer of Conexus Indiana. Fred Cartwright succeeds Mark Howell, who announced his retirement in March. Cartwright brings about four decades of auto industry experience to Conexus, with much of his career focusing on advanced technologies and innovation.
“Innovation is central to building a strong economy and strong workforce,” said Cartwright. “My focus is always on the future, and I am energized by the opportunities to partner with industry, the public sector and universities around important issues that drive Indiana’s economy and Hoosiers’ prosperity.”
Cartwright graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and from Butler University with a master’s degree in business administration.
Cartwright began his career with Indianapolis-based Allison Transmission Inc. (NYSE: ALSN). He later moved to General Motors (NYSE: GM), holding positions in Detroit and Europe.
In 2013, Cartwright became executive director of the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research in Greenville, S.C.
