Community Healthcare System, Aetna reach contract agreement

Last month, the organizations failed to reach an agreement, and Aetna was expected to cease as an in-network provider Jan. 15.
The amendment extends the existing agreement until at least Oct. 1, 2023.
Community says there will be no disruption of services for patients with Aetna insurance. The contract affects Aetna commercial plans and Aetna Medicare Advantage plan patients.
The extension affects all Community entities, including Community Hospital in Munster; St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago; St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart; Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point; Community Care Network Inc.; Hartsfield Village; Community Home Care; and St. Mary Home Care.
By market share, Aetna is one of the largest health insurers in the U.S.
