Communities Land $78M for Infrastructure Projects

Subscribe NowThe Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization has awarded $78 million to 15 central Indiana communities. The organization says the state and federal funding will be used for a variety of projects, including transit, roadway, and pedestrian access and trails.
The IMPO says projects are judged on criteria including impacts to air quality, improvements to congestion, pavement quality and safety. Each funded project requires a local match.
“With requests for 72 projects totaling $202 million, it is clear that infrastructure needs in Central Indiana are great,” said Anna Gremling, executive director of the Indianapolis MPO. “This funding will help local governments address the ongoing challenges of building and maintaining the infrastructure that is so critical to the regional and state economies.”
This year’s funding allocation is higher than previous years because of the $34.5 million that the region received as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, in addition to the IMPO’s annual $50 million allocation.
The IMPO says projects will go to bid in fiscal year 2024 or 2025. The projects and IMPO funding amounts are listed below:
- Dan Jones Widening – Phase 3 in Avon, existing roadway widening: $7.8 million
- CR 100 N & Raceway Rd in Avon, roundabout: $2.9 million
- Hornet Greenway Pedestrian Enhancement in Beech Grove: $1.9 million
- 96th St. Path from Ditch to Spring Mill in Carmel, bicycle enhancement: $2.1 million
- 106th & Hazel Dell Pkwy in Carmel, roundabout: $2.2 million
- 131st & Howe Rd in Fishers, roundabout: $1.9 million
- 96th & Cyntheanne in Fishers, roundabout: $2.2 million
- Fortville Pike & CR 300 N in Greenfield, roundabout: $1.3 million
- Smith Valley & Averitt Rd in Greenwood, roundabout: $2 million
- Olio Rd from 126th St to Southeastern Pkwy in Hamilton County, resurfacing: $690,542
- 146th St. from Hazel Dell to White River in Hamilton County, bridge resurfacing: $1.9 million
- Madison Ave from Pleasant Run Pkwy N to Ray St in Indy, roadway reconstruction: $10.4 million
- 38th St over Dry Run in Indianapolis, bridge rehabilitation: $541,350
- 16th St over the Canal in Indianapolis, bridge rehabilitation: $1.2 million
- Acton Rd over Maze Creek in Indianapolis, bridge rehabilitation: $648,450
- Keystone Ave over Howland Ditch in Indianapolis, bridge rehabilitation: $906,400
