Subscribe NowThe Metropolitan Development Commission in Indianapolis has been asked to approve tax abatement for two separate construction projects totaling $17.5 million. According to documents filed with the commission, the projects could lead to the creation of 65 new jobs.
One of the projects is for an $11 million redevelopment project in Beech Grove, off Emerson Avenue.
According to documents filed with the commission, Indianapolis-based Milestone Contractors LP is seeking a five-year abatement as it plans to build a new 25,000-square-foot headquarters and a 52,000-square-foot maintenance hub on the property.
The company is seeking property tax abatement to help off-set the cost of the project.
If approved, Milestone says the project will create 25 new jobs with an average wage of $37.10/hour. The company says it will also retain 110 jobs already in place.
Milestone has five other offices in the state, including Lafayette, Columbus, Richmond, Bloomington, and Portland.
The commission is also being asked to approve property tax abatement for Indianapolis-based mechanical contractor R.T. Moore Co. Inc.
The company wants to build a 25,000-square-foot corporate headquarters, plus an additional 20,000-square foot building on Intech Boulevard off 71st Street, near I-465.
If approved, the company says the $6.5 million project would lead to 40 new jobs, with an average wage of $32.00/hour. The company says it would also retain 270 jobs.
R.T. Moore says as part of their development, it would engage with Employ Indy to develop a work-based learning program with area high schools.
