The health system said the practice will include providers and surgical services that were previously available through Southern Indiana Surgery, an independent surgical practice in Columbus.
Details of the financial investment in the new practice were not immediately available.
The new practice will operate as a hospital department under the CRH umbrella, with its office located at 2325 18th Street.
The health system said in a news release a group of eight physicians and nurse practitioners will move to Columbus Regional Health General Surgery from Southern Indiana Surgery. A total employee count was not made available.
“We have always been aligned with Southern Indiana Surgery, but this conversion to CRH General Surgery allows for even more seamless patient care, from facility and technology resources, to our EPIC electronic medical record system,” a CRH spokesperson said in an email to Inside INdiana Business. “This elevates delivery of care and patient experience.”
The spokesperson said the vascular surgery and services portion of Southern Indiana Surgery will continue to operate under the name Vascular Center of Southern Indiana Surgery, located at 2109 Doctors Park Drive in Columbus.
CRH said patient care at both locations will be unaffected by the transition.
