Maggie Liu launched MXL Outfitters, a clothing company targeted at trendy girls. It has already brought in tens of thousands of dollars and shipped orders to all 50 states, earning her a top five finish in the National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Award competition.
Finalists were selected from a pool of applicants who wrote essays describing their businesses and future goals, who were then interviewed by NFIB members from throughout the country. Liu was also one of 100 scholarship winners, six from Indiana, announced earlier this year by the NFIB that will receive scholarships of between $2,000 and $25,000.
