The work is funded by a $403,000 Main Street Revitalization Program grant through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. A Historic Preservation Grant of $142,216 will also support the project, which includes 13 buildings along West Jackson Street from State Road 19 to Main Street.
Cicero officials, business owners and residents gathered for a ribbon cutting for the project on Tuesday. Town Council President Rusty Miller cut the ribbon and says “ the improvements will help the community in its revitalization efforts of the downtown area and will continue the Town’s efforts in enhancing its quality of place and economic development within Cicero.”
The businesses will remain open during construction, which is expected to be complete in May 2019.
