Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report Dallas, Texas-based Provident Realty Advisors withdrew its application for the project following concerns from residents.
The company had proposed constructing eight, 150,000-square-foot buildings with groundbreaking expected to take place in early 2026.
However, residents had expressed concerns over noise, reduced home values, and impacts on air, water, energy, and more, according to the publication.
George Gonzales with Provident Realty Advisors told the Chesterton Plan Commission the company aimed to minimize the impact on homeowners, including by using landscaping to address noise concerns.
But the Chesterton Town Council issued a public statement on Friday detailing its dissatisfaction with the proposal.
“At its current scale, and especially at this location, the Town Council could never support this project,” the letter read. “If the proposal were to receive any serious consideration, the number, size, and height of the buildings would need to be significantly reduced…”
The council said both it and the plan commission was not actively considering the proposal, which led to Providence withdrawing its plan.
