North Carolina-based Cherry Bekaert has acquired MCM CPAs & Advisors, a regional accounting firm headquartered in Louisville with offices in Indianapolis and Jeffersonville.
MCM is the eight largest accounting service in the southeast, Cherry Bekaert officials said citing an Accounting Today ranking of Top 100 Firms.
“MCM is the perfect addition to help us enter these new market locations with an established partner that has a reputation for providing outstanding client service and possesses the size to accelerate our growth strategy,” Cherry Bekaert CEO Michelle Thompson said in a news release. “MCM’s depth of knowledge across numerous industries also creates strategic opportunities to better serve our current clients and attract new ones.”
MCM has offices in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. The acquisition will bring MCM’s 370 employees and $72 million in annual revenue under the Cherry Bekaert umbrella. Cherry Bekaert serves clients in all 50 states and officials say the acquisition makes the company the southeast’s largest accounting firm.
MCM Managing Partner Brad Smith said his company is thrilled to join Cherry Bekaert.
“Our combined offerings will bring complementary strengths to the table,” Smith said. “This is an unprecedented opportunity to provide our clients with even more innovative service offerings and for MCM employees to benefit from additional opportunities for professional growth.”
A spokesperson for Cherry Bekaert said in an email to IIB that it is seeking new hires following the acquisition. The firm employs more than 1,800 across its entire footprint.
