The Indiana Chamber of Commerce is seeking applications for the ninth annual “Best Places to Work in Indiana” honors. Selected companies will be honored in May at an awards dinner in Indianapolis.

August 19, 2013

News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — The Indiana Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the state's annual competition naming the “Best Places to Work in Indiana.” In its ninth year, this program honors top companies in the state as determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys.

Companies need to have at least 15 Hoosier employees to be eligible. Out-of-state parent companies are also eligible to participate if at least 15 full-time employees are in Indiana.

In 2013, a new tier of categories was unveiled due to the unprecedented number of honorees and to better represent the distinct employer groups in the state. That continues, with winners to be selected from four groups: small companies of between 15 and 74 U.S. employees; medium companies of between 75 and 249 U.S. employees; large companies of between 250 and 999 U.S. employees; and major companies with 1,000 or more U.S. employees.

The application deadline is Friday, November 22. To apply, visit www.bestplacestoworkIN.com.

“We had an impressive list of businesses chosen as Best Places to Work in 2013 and we want to see even more companies honored in the coming year,” says Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar. “We know there are many employers — large and small — in Indiana who go above and beyond for their employees. We'd like to recognize them for that important effort.”

Last year, a record 100 companies were honored.

All participating organizations will receive an in-depth evaluation identifying strengths and weaknesses, according to their employees. Whether or not the company is selected as a Best Place to Work, the report can be used in developing or enhancing employee retention and recruitment programs.

The Best Companies Group, which has overseen similar programs in other states and large cities, is responsible for the selection process. The program is presented by Comcast Business Class.

The selected companies will be honored on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Best Places to Work awards dinner in downtown Indianapolis. Winners will also be recognized via a special supplement to the Indiana Chamber’s bimonthly BizVoice® magazine and through Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick – both of which reach statewide audiences.

Program partners with the Indiana Chamber and BizVoice are Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, the Indiana SHRM Council, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and Best Companies Group.

Silver sponsors are: Elfcu, Eli Lilly Federal Credit Union; Jackson Lewis; Matrix Integration, LLC; and Smithville Communications, Inc. Additional sponsorships are available by contacting Jim Wagner at jwagner@indianachamber.com or call (317) 264-6876.

Top “Best Places to Work in Indiana” winners in 2013 were Hollingsworth & Zivitz P.C. of Carmel (for the second year in a row) in the small category; Indianapolis’ Somerset CPAs in the medium category; Sikich, LLP of Indianapolis in the large category; and Indianapolis-based Microsoft Corporation in the major category (a third straight win for the company).
