Subscribe NowThe vice president of communications for IndyCar says the recently-announced series sponsorship with Japanese telecommunications giant NTT will bring benefits that extend far beyond traditional sponsorship deals. "NTT is one of the real giants in terms of technological services, and in terms of Fortune 500 companies," said Curt Cavin, who believes the deal will attract a variety of relationships that will benefit the series. "Largely, in terms of business to business relationships (and) in terms of bringing their friends and their partners to the sport. Anything that helps the teams or manufacturers or the drivers, much less the series, is good for all of us."
Cavin talked about the NTT deal and health of the IndyCar series on this weekend’s edition of Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick.
INDYCAR announced the NTT sponsorship deal during the North American International Auto Show in December. It is a multi-year agreement for NTT to become the IndyCar Series title partner and the official technology partner of INDYCAR, the IndyCar Series, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR’s Brickyard 400.
The 17-race IndyCar series begins with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg March 10 and, of course, includes the 103rd Indianapolis 500 May 26.
Cavin said to expect an announcement soon on a presenting sponsor for the Indy 500.
