(NYSE: CTLT) is making what are being described as “disruptive” changes to work shifts at its plant in Bloomington. The Herald-Times reports about 200 temporary employees will be let go as a result.
The company recently told employees that beginning in August, it will switch from traditional eight-hour shifts to 12-hour shifts, with employees alternating between four-day and three-day work weeks, according to the publication.
Andrew Espejo, general manager for the Bloomington location, told employees that no full-time positions will be eliminated, according to a recording of the meeting viewed by at Herald-Times reporter.
“As we continue to optimize our operations and production schedules, we will work with employees to communicate and prepare for changes to shift patterns while reviewing the ongoing need for certain temporary contract positions,” the company said in an email obtained by the publication.
In April, the biopharma company announced plans to invest $350 million in the Bloomington plant and add more than 1,000 jobs over the next several years.
