Erhardt currently serves as CEO of Horizon NJ Health, which is the largest Medicaid plan in the state of New Jersey. He succeeds Pamela Morris, who will retire in May. CareSource says Morris, who has been CEO of CareSource since its founding nearly 30 years ago, will work with Preitauer for several weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
"After an extensive nationwide search, we are extremely pleased with the caliber of candidate we found in Erhardt Preitauer," said Kevin Brown, chair of the CareSource Management Group Board. “He has an impressive background in leading government sponsored health plans and he has a proven history with mission-driven organizations with a holistic focus on the member."
CareSource announced in August that it, along with Managed Health Services in Indianapolis, would provide coverage on the federal marketplace in Decatur, Jackson, Grant and Wayne counties beginning this year. In October, CareSource opened a new call center on the northwest side of Indianapolis, which it said would create 150 jobs.
