Ingram Micro Inc. will invest nearly $40 million to lease, renovate and equip a 590,000-square-foot third-party distribution center in Jeffersonville, creating up to 550 jobs. The company, which already employs nearly 2,000 full-time and seasonal workers in Indianapolis and Plainfield, plans to launch operations in Jeffersonville by early 2018.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says Ingram Micro has begun renovations at the facility at the River Ridge Commerce Center. The center is expected to be fully operational by next summer.
Ingram Micro will begin hiring at the beginning of the year for office, warehouse, supervisory and management positions.
"Ingram Micro has a long and productive relationship with the state of Indiana, and we are excited to expand our operations into Jeffersonville in early 2018," said Adam Tan, chairman of the board for Ingram Micro. "Governor Holcomb and his team at the IEDC have proven to be great partners in our efforts and this expansion is expected to result in more than 2,400 full-time and seasonal Hoosier jobs across our five facilitates in the state."
The IEDC is offering Ingram Micro up to $2.9 million in conditional tax credits and up to $150,000 in training grants. Duke Energy has also approved incentives to offset some of the company’s energy costs.
Ingram Micro was founded in 1979 and operates 154 logistics centers and 23 service centers throughout the world, employing more than 30,000 people.
