HDMG LLC is investing $150,000 to acquire and renovate a building on the town’s Main Street and plans to add a small number of jobs.
HDMG, which stands for Heartland Development Marketing Group, focuses on development, entrepreneurship and investment, according to founder Grant Sherfick.
“After spending the last 15 years in the defense industry, it’s time to take that knowledge learned and experience and focus on efforts within the community that inspired and nurtured our growth,” Sherfick said in a news release. “Martin County is a hidden gem with a rich history, amazing people, lots of opportunity, and great potential for growth.”
Sherfick is currently the only employee at HDMG, but told IIB he plans to hire four full-time employees over the next two months.
HDMG said its focus includes working with businesses to develop strategies to market their strengths and bring in additional revenue, looking for opportunities to start new ventures and support existing businesses, and managing real estate assets through acquisition, construction and restoration to create growth opportunities.
The company is currently operating inside the building at 314 Main Street while renovations are ongoing.
The building also contains Main Street Laundry, which will continue operating. Plans for remaining space in the building are expected to be announced soon.
