The chief executive officer of Wisconsin-based Hendricks Commercial Properties tells Inside INdiana Business construction on the $300 million Bottleworks District in downtown Indianapolis is moving forward on schedule. Rob Gerbitz, who last week announced new tenants for the project, says the 30,000-square-foot food hall should open next April, while a boutique hotel, movie theater and office space for Indy-based High Alpha are targeted for September openings.

In an interview on this weekend’s edition of Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, Gerbitz talked about his confidence in the project and doing business in Indianapolis.

The Beloit, Wisconsin-based company is also the developer behind Ironworks at Keystone, a live, work, play neighborhood near Keystone Crossing on Indy’s north side.

Gerbitz says a pro-business attitude makes Indianapolis an attractive market for development.

“We have a tremendous amount of confidence in Indianapolis,” said Gerbitz, who adds that public-private collaboration sets Indy apart from other cities nationally.  “Development can be war in particular communities that you work on because they are not as development-friendly, they’re not as business-friendly in economic development in particular,” said Gerbitz.  “Indianapolis is not that—they are very economic development friendly, and they are collaborative.”
