(NYSE: BWA) will Thursday celebrate the grand opening of the company’s new 100,000-square-foot technical center in Noblesville. The facility, plans for which were announced last year, consolidates BorgWarner’s existing Indiana tech centers into one location.
BorgWarner currently has locations in Anderson and Pendleton. The $28 million project creates 23 new jobs and will bring more than 300 existing jobs to Hamilton County as the leases on its current locations expire over the next few years.
The facility will increase its research and development capacities in order to meet increased demand for its propulsion systems for hybrid and electric vehicles, according to the Indiana Economic Development Corp. When the project was announced in May 2017, BorgWarner said the new facility would combine research and development, testing, prototype building, engineering and design work under one roof.
IEDC President Elaine Bedel will join city officials for the grand opening ceremony Thursday.
A few weeks after the announcement, BorgWarner Vice President of Product and Manufacturing Strategy Tania Wingfield appeared on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick to talk about the project. You can view that interview by clicking the link below:
