BioPoly says the appointment comes as the company’s focus shifts to commercialization of its FDA-cleared products.
Schwartz is expected to continue to serve on the company’s executive management team as chief technology officer and chairman of the board. Co-founder Sheila Schwartz will continue to lead operations as chief operating officer.
The company says Schlotterback’s background includes more than 20 years in the orthopedic industry with experience in a variety of leadership positions, including executive management of product development, commercialization, and business development. Most recently, Schlotterback spent eight years working at Warsaw-based Nextremity Solutions.
“I look forward to working with the team to move the company through this next exciting phase of the business,” said Schlotterback. “I’ve been aware of BioPoly for some time and have always felt there was an incredible opportunity to bring BioPoly products to the market that can truly impact patients’ lives. We’ll continue to expand the portfolio with our innovative BioPoly material while strategically increasing our commercialization efforts.”
BioPoly specializes in orthopedic implants to replace damaged cartilage in joints. The company has two FDA cleared products and additional implants in development.
