The person selected for the position will succeed Patty Martin, who stepped down in April.
Board Chair Dan Peterson is leading the search, which the organization said will support a sector that is seeing continued growth, particularly in the medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing fields.
“We are seeing huge advances coming from our enterprise life sciences companies in medical breakthroughs in multiple areas; innovations are underway at companies and organizations of all sizes and our research universities, and our local, state and federal leaders are working together to ensure Indiana has what it needs to deliver for Americans and the world,” Peterson said in a news release.
The not-for-profit organization that advocates for the state’s life sciences sector added the new CEO will also lead efforts for talent development and support.
“We are seeking someone who understands these enormous possibilities and can bring all the various elements together to capitalize on Indiana’s potential as a global life sciences leader,” said Peterson.
In February, Martin announced her plans to step down to explore opportunities in the private sector, though she officially left the organization in April.
Since her departure, BioCrossroads said its leadership, along with leaders from parent Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, have been developing a life sciences sector strategy focusing on manufacturing and training Hoosiers to be prepared for new jobs.
“BioCrossroads will expand its mission to drive opportunities for talent even as it continues its decades-long focus on innovation, coalition and network building,” said CICP CEO Melina Kennedy. “Our new president and CEO will need to have the skills, energy and ability to exceed expectations in all areas.”
The organization has tapped Indianapolis-based executive search firm Medallion Partners to assist in the selection of a new CEO.
Peterson said the goal is to have a new leader in place by the end of the year.
