Known as The Cabin, the area will grow from a 400-square-foot bar space into a 1,000-square-foot dining room and bar. The new construction will double the restaurant’s dining space.
The project, totaling $1.5 million, also includes upgrades to two Airbnb rentals next door. Nashville, Indiana-based Red Truck LLC owns the property and most other Big Woods locations.
The Cabin, which is in a separate building from the primary dining room, often has lines and waits to get a seat. A beer garden is sandwiched between the buildings, and the expansion reduces that space.
“Lines at your restaurant can be a sign that business is good, but what we see is customers who want immediate service, and that’s why we are expanding,” restaurant co-owner Ed Ryan said in a news release. “We worked diligently with our architect and the town to add the additional dining space while preserving the look and feel of the beer garden.”
Ten new jobs are estimated to be created with the expansion.
Construction is expected to be completed around its 10th anniversary on April 25.
