Theresa Krier says the idea came when she was working backstage at New York Fashion Week and noticed the models would not drink soda or water because they were worried about bloating. She debuted Big T NYC in 2013. Two years later, the product is entering the Indianapolis market and Krier is one of Entrepreneur Magazine's 15 Female Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2015. She discussed her success on Inside INdiana Business Television during The INnovators With Dr. K segment. Krier says Big T NYC has been primarily-self funded. She has one investor and is working on an initial seed round of funding.
Big T NYC products are now available in the Indianapolis area at five Delaney's Shoppe locations. Krier says it is also on the menu at Usual Suspects Bar & Grill in the city's Broad Ripple neighborhood.
Krier says her top challenge is introducing a new product to the market and getting it in front of enough people.
Dr. K's “prescription” for Big T NYC are his “Three Ts” of a unique growing firm:
1. Transition: Moving the production from a hobby to a professional business
2. Team: Building a trusted group of employees
3. Tutor: Teaching others to make the tea
