Goetz currently serves as chief operating officer for the University of Connecticut athletics, where she has overseen all of the school’s internal athletic department functions since 2016. She previously spent three years at the University of Minnesota and was an associate athletic director at Butler University for five years. Goetz will succeed Mark Sandy, who served in the role for more than three years.
During a formal introduction Monday at the Muncie campus, President Geoff Mearns said Goetz "she embodies the enduring values that have distinguished this university for 100 years."
Goetz said she has three priorities she will focus on in the new role. They include continuing to support an "excellent" experience academically, athletically and in leadership development for student-athletes; finding, generating and being a good steward of revenue and resources; and "build a culture of competitiveness and winning and excellence in everything that we do," she said.
Goetz also spent 12 years at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in various positions including women’s soccer coach, assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator. She played soccer at the college with Brevard College in North Carolina and Clemson University in South Carolina and holds degrees from each, as well as a masters from UMSL.
