Becker, a serial entrepreneur and founder of First Internet Bank, is chairman of the newly-formed Indiana Technology and Innovation Association, a public policy organization that will give the industry its first consistent presence at the Indiana Statehouse. "Obviously, we show up (at the Statehouse) when there is a big issue, but you need to be there on a consistent basis," said Becker. "With the Amazon move, there were a few boxes we couldn’t check, and if we want to continue to grow and have a chance at those type of opportunities, there are things that need to get done."
In an interview for this weekend’s edition of Inside Indiana Business with Gerry Dick, Becker talked about interest in the new group from companies and organizations around the state.
Becker says the new public policy group will focus on issues of increasing importance to the tech sector, including talent, capital and quality of life and will have members from every corner of the state, which he calls “tremendously important.”
Organizers say they expected to launch the group with about 20 members, but already have 97 members and growing, ranging from big companies like Salesforce to small startups.
