Hearts of Compassion provides international children, many of whom are orphans, with support, such as education and other resources.
The Indiana organization named D. Darius Smith to lead the Liberian effort.
The program, which operates in seven countries, provides parents in small family settings with support for orphans and semi-orphans in their care. The families also receive mentoring by the local church.
Smith grew up in Liberia in a single-parent home.
“Darius has endured many personal struggles and has consistently found creative ways to develop his career and his future,” said Linda Brooks, president and chief executive officer of BCH. “For the children in BCH’s care, his example will be life-changing and we’re excited to include him in our ministry.”
Smith brings a variety of work experiences, including in the aviation industry, tourism, and database administration.
