Ball State to Install New President

As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowBall State University will Friday install Geoffrey Mearns as its 17th president. The installation ceremony at Emens Auditorium will be followed by a picnic on the Muncie campus.
The installation ceremony is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. The university will livestream the event, which can be viewed by clicking here.
Mearns was named to the position in January and began his tenure in May. In June, Mearns told Inside INdiana Business Television the success of Ball State is what attracted him to the position.
"It’s an institution that’s on an upward trajectory in terms of retention rates and graduation rates. It’s got a strong financial position that’s going to allow us to continue to invest in our students and their success," Mearns said. "And the state of Indiana is somewhat unusual across the country (in) that our elected officials continue to invest in public higher education."
