The university says the facility will "embrace an innovative, collaborative and interprofessional environment for students to promote learning, discovery and engagement." It will feature 12 exam rooms, a pediatric simulation suite, two 10-bed simulation suites and a virtual simulation lab, among other amenities.
Plans for the project were announced in 2015 and the Ball State said then that the building would consolidate health-related programs on the Muncie campus. In December, the Ball State Board of Trustees approved issuing bonds for the project.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
