Ball State Names Provost

Subscribe NowBall State University President Geoffrey Mearns has named Susana Rivera-Mills provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. Rivera-Mills, who most recently served as vice provost for academic programs and learning innovation at Oregon State University, will begin her new role in July.
The university says in her new role, Rivera-Mills will be responsible for overseeing all academic colleges and units as well as playing a "crucial role" in the development and implementation of a new strategic plan. She will Marilyn Buck, who currently serves in the role on an interim basis.
"Susana is the right person to fill our University’s role as chief academic officer because of her extensive experience in higher education and her passion for preparing students to have successful careers and to lead meaningful lives," Mearns said in a news release. "Susana is committed to creating a learning environment that enables all students to reach their full potential, and she has a proven track record for developing the types of programs and building the necessary partnerships that will enable our University to fulfill our aspirational mission."
Rivera-Mills is a native of El Salvador and has received degrees from the University of Iowa and the University of New Mexico. She was chosen for the position after a six-month national search led by an internal search committee at Ball State.
