(Nasdaq: PTVCA and PTVCB), a name designed to align with the rebranding it launched last year with three subsidiary identities.
In May 2017, the company pooled Protective Insurance Co., Sagamore Insurance Co. and Protective Specialty Insurance Co. under the Protective Insurance umbrella. Chief Executive Officer Randy Birchfield says "(founders) Harry Baldwin and Voris Lyons will forever be an instrumental part of our Corporation’s legacy and a key component in our storied history. However, as we move forward, it is important for our name to reflect our future. We are forging a path that is innovative and progressive, expanding rapidly in our core competencies of transportation and workers’ compensation. The Protective name continues to hold meaning, as it is the first subsidiary that Harry and Voris founded in 1954. We believe it is a wonderful reminder of the past that still paves the way for an incredibly promising future."
Protective Insurance bills itself as a market leader in niches within transportation and workers’ compensation insurance. It employs more than 530.
