CraftMark Bakery LLC, formerly known as Specialty Bakery LLC, is seeking tax abatement on a proposed $16.5 million investment that could also retain 237 jobs.
The company first launched its Indianapolis facility in 2014. It invested around $75 million into a 225,000 square-foot headquarters and manufacturing operation, meeting its previous hiring goals early. The new investment involves upgraded manufacturing, information technology and research and development equipment connected to a new frozen bread dough line. In a filing with the city, CraftMark says the new jobs will pay an average of more than $16 per hour. The jobs that would be retained pay nearly $24 per hour on average.
The company is seeking an eight-year tax abatement, which would save it nearly $1 million. CraftMark is slated to meet Wednesday with the Metropolitan Development Commission of Marion County for a preliminary approval hearing.
