The Indianapolis-based health system confirmed the closings to IBJ on Wednesday morning in a two-sentence statement, but provided no information on why it was closing the facilities.
“Ascension Medical Group St. Vincent will be closing 11 Immediate Care Centers effective end of business on June 30, 2022,” the statement said. “Impacted associates are being offered a comparable position at one of our many sites of care.”
The health system did not say why it was closing the centers or how many employees would be affected.
The facilities are walk-in clinics for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, such as sprains, cuts, allergies, pink eye, etc. More serious injuries are treated at emergency rooms.
On its website, Ascension St. Vincent lists more than 20 immediate care centers across the state, including 10 in the Indianapolis area.
