Another Tenant Heading to Electric Works

The developers of the $440 million Electric Works mixed-use innovation district in downtown Fort Wayne have announced a new tenant for the property. Fort Wayne Metals has signed a letter of intent to lease space at the former General Electric property with initial plans for dedicated space for materials research and development.

The Fort Wayne Metals space will be located on the project’s west campus. The announcement comes more than a year after the company detailed plans to invest more than $50 million to expand its Allen County operations and add more than 330 jobs by 2021.

"As we continue to be innovative leaders of life-saving, high-quality material solutions, we are experiencing a global increase in demand," said Scott Glaze, chief executive officer of Fort Wayne Metals. "Our investment in facilities, research and talent will help build the infrastructure necessary to meet this demand, and we are excited to be able to establish a presence at Electric Works and take advantage of the unique resources and opportunities it offers our team."

Fort Wayne Metals, which was founded in 1971, manufactures wire-based products that are used in medical devices and other applications including aerospace and power generation. Glaze appeared on the Fort Wayne Town Hall edition of Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick in December 2017 to talk about the company’s growth.

The company joins a growing list of tenants for Electric Works, the first phase of which is currently under construction. Other previously-announced tenants include Parkview Health, Indiana Tech, Medical Informatics Engineering, and Fort Wayne Public Market.
