Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report the upgrades include new seating and LED lighting throughout the facility.
Speedway President Rick Dawson says the work is expected to be complete ahead of the opening of the 2019 season.
"We’re going to replace the wooden seats and walkways with aluminum," Dawson told the publication. "We’re repairing and replacing the damaged bleachers. The infrastructure is good. This is exciting for the track and the city of Anderson. It will make the facility more accessible to everybody."
Dawson says the current main grandstands came from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the 1960s after the bleachers at Anderson Speedway were destroyed by a fire.
