Anderson Psychiatric Facility Sold And Set to Reopen
The Anderson facility is set to reopen in August under new ownership.

Our partners at The Herald-Bulletin report that the company opened its location at the Flagship Enterprise Center in 2014. The location was denied accreditation this year by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, which provides standardized healthcare accreditation around the state.
The Madison County facility closed its doors at the end of May, and lost its Medicare provider status on July 6. Morris Long, a co-owner of Assurance Health, told The Herald-Bulletin that the company sold the facility to an employee of the former location. The new company, A New Health Care, will reopen it in August. A New Health Care will be on the hook for loans on the Anderson property left unpaid by Assurance Health System.
In 2014, the Anderson Redevelopment Commission awarded Assurance Health System a $200,000 conditional seven-year loan. At the time that the loan was approved, the publication reports, Assurance Health indicated it would make a $3.2 million investment in Anderson and would eventually add 52 jobs. The Redevelopment Commission says $149,000 is still owed and the city expects the new company to cover previous obligations.
