Anderson Lands More Italian Investment

The city of Anderson has announced another Italian company will locate to the city. Italpollina plans to invest more than $9 million in a North American headquarters that would bring 35 jobs to Madison County.

The company produces organic fertilizers, vegetable-based biostimulants and what it describes as beneficial microorganisms.

Mayor Thomas Broderick says "through the hard work and continuing efforts of our economic development team, we have brought Italpollina home to Anderson. We expect great things from Italpollina and look forward to growing right along with them."

Business from Italian companies and was part of the global attraction efforts of previous Mayor Kevin Smith’s administration and economic development officials that have continued into the Broderick Administration. Smith led a jobs mission to Italy in 2013 along with Economic Development Director Greg Winkler and Flagship Enterprise Center Chief Executive Officer Chuck Staley. Last year, Sirmax North America Inc., an Italian automotive and machinery components manufacturer, broke ground on a facility that is part of a more than $25 million investment that involves 50 jobs.

Italpollina Chief Executive Officer Luca Bonini says "the construction of this new plant is a very exciting step for our company since it confirms our commitment to the US market and shows the importance of biotechnologies in agriculture. In Anderson, we have found the right mix of a skilled workforce and a business friendly environment. We are really looking forward to expanding our activity in the US with the creation of our new North American headquarters in Indiana."

The 70,000 square-foot will be located on the former GM Scatterfield site, which is just west of the Flagship Purdue P3 facility. The company plans to be operational in December.
