AM General Locks-In $356M Deal

As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowSouth Bend-based AM General LLC has landed a $356 million contract. The U.S. Department of Defense deal involves nearly 1,700 Humvees for the Afghanistan National Army and Police.
The assembly work will be performed at the plant in Mishawaka. It is expected to be complete by the end of July in 2017.

The company says demand throughout the world for new and remanufactured light tactical vehicles, parts and training "is as strong today as ever."
To date, the company has produced and serviced over 300,000 such vehicles in some 60 countries. In addition to Humvees, the operations in Mishawaka also produce the Mercedes-Benz R-Class.
