She joined General Motors in 1977 as a co-op student with Detroit Diesel Allison (now Allison Transmission). Gordon has held a variety of assignments in multiple functions, including product engineering, competitive assessment and product line leadership. She previously served as executive director, business planning and program management since 2009 and was appointed as executive director, regulatory issues and hybrid programs in August 2014. Gordon holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University).
