Albanese Confectionery to Invest $33M in Hobart

Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the candy company could add up to 150 employees by 2019. The expansion plans, the publication reports, include an additional production line, packaging line and bulk sugar system.
Construction could begin early next year. The company received preliminary 10-year tax abatement approval last week from the Hobart City Council. Final approval could come after a public hearing, which is set for January 17. Albanese Confectionery currently employs 400. When it was established in 1995, its headcount totaled 10.
