The company, which produces septic tanks, sump pits and other products for the wastewater industry, says the investment will help retain 155 jobs at the facility.
The Plymouth Common Council has approved a seven-year personal property tax abatement for the project. The council also passed a resolution designating the facility as an economic revitalization area.
“I appreciate the council members approving the seven-year phased in tax abatement to support this capital investment that AK Industries is making towards their long-term success in our city,” Plymouth Mayor Mark
Senter said in a news release. “This business has been an important industrial member of our community. Businesses continuing to make investments of this type speaks well for the continued success of our city.”
AK Industries was founded nearly 40 years ago and has since grown to include four divisions. In 2015, the company announced plans to add 100 jobs in Plymouth.
