AES to Acquire Petersburg Solar Farm

Subscribe NowAES Indiana has announced plans to acquire and construct a solar energy storage facility in Pike County. The subsidiary of The AES Corp. (NYSE: AES) says it is the next step toward meeting the state’s future energy needs.
“The Petersburg Solar Project is a win-win solution that adds new technologies to our generation fleet, while also keeping economic benefits right here in Indiana,” said Kristina Lund, AES Indiana president and chief executive officer in a news release.
The project is connected to the utility’s existing Petersburg Generating Station and is expected to power the equivalent of 45,000 homes during peak hours. Lund says it will also provide an unspecified number of jobs and economic impact.
“Pike County welcomes the new investment of the Petersburg Solar Project and the several benefits of the project including new construction jobs and new tax revenue to the county,” said Ashley Willis, director of economic development at the Pike County Economic Development Corp.
AES Indiana is acquiring the project from a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC., which will develop the project.
