The company’s recently-rebranded business segment, Accelera by Cummins, is partnering with a Canadian consortium which is building a $685 million biorefinery to produce methanol.
A proton exchange membrane electrolyzer system splits water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen, in compressed gas form, can be used as a power source.
The Varennes Carbon Recycling Plant, which is a partnership of Shell, Suncor and Proman, will produce biofuels from non-recyclable waste materials and wood waste.
The facility is under construction and scheduled to be operational in 2025.
