The South Bend/Elkhart Region Partnership today received the year’s first 21st Century Talent Region designation, which is given to communities focused on collaborating by the Office of Career Connections and Talent.
The South Bend/Elkhart Regional Partnership detailed several priorities through the initiative, including: Increase student and adult career coaching via Career Pathways programs, and to launch a digital Center for Work-Based learning and development of a Regional Innovation Asset Portal to assist regional industries and entrepreneurship.
“The South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership has been instrumental in driving innovation across northern Indiana, partnering with local, regional and state leaders through various talent, education and workforce development opportunities such as the Regional Cities initiative,” said Indiana Secretary of Career Connections and Talent Blair Milo.
The initiative was created to spur communities to collaborate on plans to grow population, increase educational fulfillment and raise household income. The initiative began after $126 million in matching funds, dedicated by the Indiana Regional Cities Initiative, was provided to three regions to elaborate on future plans to attract talent. Over $120 million has been awarded for 65 projects, to date.
