2023 Indiana Golden Hoosier Award honorees unveiled

The award is presented to senior Hoosiers “for their lifetime of service and commitment to their communities.”
The state has honored over 200 senior Hoosiers since the award’s inception in 2008. The award is a collaboration between the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Aging and AARP Indiana.
“Each of these Hoosiers has dedicated their life to serving communities across Indiana,” Crouch said in a news release. “They exemplify the Hoosier spirit of wanting to help, wanting to give back and being generous.”
To be eligible for the Golden Hoosier Award, a person must be over 65 and volunteered in their community for the past three years.
This year’s recipients are:
- Mike Andree, Sr., of Griffith, Lake County
- Bonnie Carrigan of Rising Sun, Dearborn County
- John Clarke of Bentonville, Fayette County)
- Thomas L. Farris of Muncie, Delaware County
- Phillip Griffith of Valparaiso, Porter County
- Clorius Lay of Gary, Lake County
- Rob Ohlemiller of Indianapolis, Marion County
- James L. Peters of Greenfield, Hancock County
- Jeanne Wease of Crown Point, Lake County
- Bob Wortman of Morristown, Shelby County
