Much of the discussion will focus on challenges facing the ag sector.
Indiana farmers faced unprecedented delays in getting their fields planted. Weather challenges continued throughout the summer for both corn and soybean crops.
Due to the late planting, some farmers kept their corn in the fields longer. As of the most recent crop progress issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, four percent of Indiana corn is still unharvested.
“This has been an extremely difficult year for most farmers, and most are looking for things to improve in 2020,” said Gary Truitt, the show’s president and Indiana agriculture broadcaster. “We felt that focusing on recovery, renewal and innovation is the best way to help them get ready to head into a new growing season.”
Now in its 41st year, the three-day gathering is presented by Hoosier Ag Today and Farm World, and gets underway Tuesday in the West Pavilion at the fairgrounds.
The expo offers seminars on managing and marketing. Organizers say attendees will also get ideas on how to improve crop production and profitability.
Truitt says the show offers 140,000 square feet of exhibit space which is filled with the production technology in farming and with many cutting-edge products that are just hitting the market.
The expo will offer Tuesday afternoon a panel discussion on growing hemp in Indiana which will include experts from Purdue University, the Office of the Indiana State Chemist and the Midwest Hemp Council.
Admission to the show is free. Pre-registration is recommended and can be done online by clicking here.
