Land Betterment Establishes Charitable Foundation

Fishers-based Land Betterment Corp. is establishing a charitable foundation through the Community Foundation of West Kentucky. The company says the foundation, the ekō Villages of Hope, will offer rapid-deployment dwellings to communities in Kentucky recently devastated by tornadoes.
The company recently provided four ekō homes to a Kentucky community and says the newly-created foundation will receive donations and help broaden its relief efforts.
“The week leading up to Christmas has been an incredible experience,” said Mark Jensen, executive chairman of Land Betterment. “Though, the damage left behind from the tornadoes is so severe, it has been really inspiring to see the humanitarian response help in this time of need. We knew that with so much loss, housing was one of the biggest problems for the community, and our ekō homes could provide an extremely efficient solution.”
Jensen says the response from people wanting to contribute to the efforts has been tremendous.
“We have also received a generous contribution to match the first $154,000 raised through the CFWK and the ekō Villages of Hope Fund,” said Jensen. “This alone will allow us to build upon the early success and put 12 additional families in homes for a year, free of charge.”
Earlier this year, the company announced plans to repurpose a former elementary school in Kentucky.
