The marine manufacturer, a division of Brunswick Corp. (NYSE: BC), says the new location will create approximately 250 jobs.
Mercury Marine tells Inside INdiana Business, the distribution center will be located in the Ronald Reagan Logistics Center in Brownsburg that is now under construction.
The company is not sharing how much it is investing in the project. Mercury Marine says the new facility, its first in Indiana, is necessary for “much needed” scale, stability and reduced logistics costs.
The company says its current distribution facility at the global headquarters in Fond du Lac will be converted into manufacturing space as it responds to market demand.
“As demand for all our products continues to grow around the world, so does our need to grow our manufacturing, distribution, and production capabilities,” said Mercury Marine President Chris Drees. “Expanding these facilities in Wisconsin and the opening of the new distribution center in Indiana will immediately give us the opportunity to meet the growing needs of our global channel partners.”
Mercury Marine says the Indiana facility is being designed for LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) Silver certification.
