CFP Executive Director Bill Hancock tells our partners at WISH-TV Indy provides many benefits for hosting the big game.
“[When] you in cities, you look for airports. You look for hotels. You look for venues, stadiums, convention centers. Indianapolis has it all,” Hancock said. “The greatest thing, though, about Indianapolis is the people. The warmth, the passion for sports, for college sports, is just unmatched here in Indianapolis and secondly, the walkability. You don’t need a car in Indianapolis. Walk around and enjoy the city.”
Hancock says planning for the game in Indy has been going on for a long time and officials are preparing for the large number of fans who will descend upon the city, even if they’re not going to be able to see the game itself.
“You don’t just open the stadium doors and have a game anymore. It’s all different, so we have a concert series. We have a fan festival in the convention center, a 5K run, lots of things for people to participate in,” he said.
The 2022 College Football Playoff Indianapolis Host Committee is still looking for volunteers to help with festivities during the weekend of January 8-10. You can learn more about volunteer opportunities by clicking here.
