Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the panel voted in support of the site development of the nearly 13,000-square-foot addition.
Planning Administrator Anthony Schlueter told the publication that expansion of the Crossroads YMCA facility will bring it to 130,000 square feet. In addition to the building, the project includes additional turf fields.
The organization says the youth activities center will replace an outdoor playground on the south side of the facility, which will be torn down. The new addition will house the Y’s gymnastics, dance, Ninja and cheer programs, according to the publication.
Project Engineer Russ Pozen with DVG Team Inc. noted that engineering has already been approved by the city. He expects construction to begin immediately.
