Metazoa Brewing Co. in Indianapolis was the big winner, taking home Brewery of the Year and Brewer of the Year, in addition to three medals.
Blind Owl Brewery in Indy and Moontown Brewing Co. of Whitestown also took home some hardware.
“In my opinion, winning a Brewery of the Year award at the Great American Beer Festival is the highest competition honor that an American brewery can receive. It is humbling to receive this recognition, and this amazing honor wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of our incredible production team,” said Metazoa Director of Brewer Operations Nick Betzner.
Metazoa’s coffee blonde Trash Panda won gold medal in the Coffee Beer category, Rosie the River Otter won a gold in the Herb & Spice Beer category and Go Ape-ricot won a bronze medal in the Specialty Saison category.
Moontown Brewing took home a silver medal for its American Cream Ale Moonlite, and two bronze medals for its Skool House Bock in the Bock category and its 40th Parallel in the Bohemian-Style Pilsener category. Blind Owl took home a silver medal for its Tomamos in the International Lager section.
More than 2,190 breweries from all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico submitted beers in 91 categories.
