(NYSE: ALSN) says it has been selected by Hino Trucks to partner on the development of medium and heavy-duty electric trucks. Allison says low volume production of the trucks will begin in early 2023.
Allison says through the agreement, Hino will integrate Allison’s eGen Power 100D e-Axle into their Class 6, 7 and 8 Battery Electric Vehicle trucks.
The two companies already have a long-standing partnership in the conventional transmission space.
“Whether our conventional diesel-powered products or our next generation electric propulsion platforms, our mutual customers expect reliable and durable solutions from the Hino and Allison partnership. I’m confident we’ll continue to deliver that promise,” said Glenn Ellis, senior vice president of customer experience at Hino Trucks.
Allison says its eGen series of drive trains are lighter and more compact and suitable for commercial electric trucks.
