Fadness says he thinks investment from life sciences companies could top a half billion dollars over the course of a year. “The idea that we have people who know how to make things in manufacturing and have a deep understanding of life sciences, we found that was a really great opportunity to double down,” said Fadness. “We think there is tremendous momentum at our back right now.”
Fadness talked about his city’s emerging life sciences profile on this weekend’s edition of Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick.
In October of last year, startup INCOG BioPharma Services announced plans to invest $60 million to locate its global headquarters and first manufacturing facility in Fishers in a move the company says could result in 150 jobs over the next three years.
Fadness says the city viewed the INCOG announcement as an opportunity to attract more investment in the sector and purchased additional acreage with a vision to create a life sciences corridor.
The mayor says the strategy has put Fishers on the global map for life sciences investment.
“In fact, tonight I’m on a call with an international opportunity in the life sciences…and we have a number of conversations ongoing,” said Fadness.” We really think that this is an emerging market that we can be successful at.”
